With nearly 30 years as a General Dental Practitioner and former owner of two practices, Gavin has worked as a General Dental Practice Adviser for several NHS and privately owned organisations.
As GDPA for Calderdale & Kirklees Health Authority and more recently for Manchester PCT, Gavin has conducted more than 150 practice visits, and been involved in supporting under-performing practices. Gavin has also acted as an independent clinical adviser for the Healthcare Commission, investigating and preparing full reports on over 150 complaints cases.
In addition to his extensive general practice experience Gavin has experience as an undergraduate tutor in oral surgery, and ran a minor oral surgery list at North Manchester General Hospital. Drawing on this experience he recently set up and established the Emergency Dental Service for Oldham PCT, developing and leading a first rate team in providing this much-needed service.
Apart from his dental qualifications Gavin also holds an MBA from Huddersfield University, for which he gained 3 prizes. His depth and breadth of experience in the dental business is second to none and coupled with his business qualifications, he brings added value to the business advice that Waterside Consultancy can offer.
Gavin is currently studying for a Certificate in Appraisal of Dental Practices with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons, and has recently joined the Bench at Huddersfield Magistrates Court.
